What Is a Unified Payment Interface (UPI)?

A Unified Payment Interface (UPI) is a smartphone application that allows users to transfer money between bank accounts. It is a single-window mobile payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It eliminates the need to enter bank details or other sensitive information each time a customer initiates a transaction.

The Unified Payment Interface is a real-time payment system. It is designed to enable peer-to-peer inter-bank transfers through a single two-click factor authentication process. The interface is regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), India's central bank. It works by transferring money between two bank accounts along with a mobile platform.

What is the meaning of UPI?

It is an international news agency that provides various journalism-related material to a number of newspapers, magazines, radios, and other television stations. It goes way back to the 20th century when it successfully hit more than 6,000 media subscribers. After the sudden cutbacks within the staff, from 1982 to 1999, UPI has fairly concentrated over the period.

United Press International History:

UPI is formerly known as United Press Associations (UPA). This news agency is created by combining small agencies around the period of 1907. By following this pattern, by the end of 1958, it became as we know as United Press International. This agency is among the largest newswire services in the world, it has successfully managed to compete against major other companies.

During its glory days, it has supported about 2,000 full-time employees in around 92 countries. After 1982, the company declared bankruptcy and shrank in numbers. Later on, in 2000, was purchased by News World Communications which is an international news media company founded in 1976. Ever since it has able to maintain a stable profile and has branched its facilities over time. Now it provides services to business, sports, science, and many other fields as well.
