NAAC stands for "National Assessment and Accreditation Council"

NAAC represents the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. It is an independent body that evaluates and authorizes Higher Education in India. It is set up by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India after the suggestions of the National Policy in Education (1986) which underscored the nature of advanced education in India. NAAC was set up in 1994 and its base camp is in Bangalore. As of August 2017, Prof. Dhirendra Pal Singh is the Director of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council since August 2015. Prof. Ved Prakash is the leader of the General Council and Dr. Virander S. Chauhan is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of NAAC.
