It is a computer program that connects the host bus adapters to mass storage devices such as hard disk drivers, optical drivers, and solid-state drives. After successfully defeating Parallel ATA (PATA), it has become the predominant interface for storage units.
SATA specializes due to the INCITS technical committee T13, AT attachment (INCITS T13).
Tracing back the history, SATA was originally publicly announced in the early 2000s. The market launch made a difference because it served less price and more efficiency as compared to PATA. Not only this, it was able to carry out data transferring comparatively faster. The full-fledged prototype was released during the year of 2003.
