SQL Stands for "Structured Query Language"

At first, it was named SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language) intended to add, update, or eliminate information from inside an information base. Afterward, it changed its name to Structured Query Language (SQL).

SQL is initially founded on Relational Algebra and Tuple Relational Calculus. SQL was created at IBM by Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce in the mid-1970s.
