Lock your Facebook profile:

Worried about your profile privacy? Or want to limit the access of your profile to only a few audiences? You can, fortunately, lock your profile on Facebook so that no one except your permission can see your pictures nor can stalk your location unless you permit it. What happens when you lock your profile?

Once you have locked your Facebook profile, your already connected contacts can see your pictures and everything there on your profile, while the new audience/comers on the profile can only see your cover picture but can’t zoom in, nor would be able to see your posted posts/ pictures, only your cover bio and main desktop profile picture will be visible and if they want to see your complete Facebook profile, then they have to send you a connection request, if you accept, it means they will be able to see your complete profile.

 Here locking your profile doesn’t stop them from finding you on Facebook, even after locking they can find your profile in the search section but pictures and posts would be secured and restricted.

How to lock your profile on the desktop?

Open your desktop, it doesn’t matter where you are doing it, either on windows or mac or on any other platform, the Facebook website will work the same. Next, log in to your account by putting in your credentials. Without logging in you cannot follow this process, and in case if you forgot the password then there is an option of “forgot password” at the bottom of the page, tap there and follow the steps. 

Now, after logging in go to your profile section and tap on your name, for instance, you click on the option of “MY PROFILE”, available at the top-right corner of the page, now you will tap on “Harshita Chawla”, i.e on your name. After clicking you will be redirected to a new page where you tap on the three horizontal dots, present beside the edit profile.

It will pop up with options in the menu bar, tap on “Select profile”. It will ask you to check a few boxes, which means you are agreeing to their terms and conditions of security. If the decision is confirmed, lock your profile then carry on with boxes, and finally click on “ok”. Now, you have successfully locked your Facebook profile.
