Summary of 2023 Q2 financial reports of many major chip manufacturers (2)

【Lansheng Technology Information】Recently, major chip manufacturers have successively announced their Q2 financial reports for this year. Lansheng Technology has sorted out the Q2 revenue of TI, ST, NXP, AMD, Renesas and other chip manufacturers. Perhaps we can learn about the status of the chip industry. Current status and development prospects in the second half of the year.

1. Renesas’ Q2 revenue in 2023 will be 368.7 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%, and its operating profit will be 97.3 billion yen, a year-on-year decrease of 11.7%. The overall performance is stable.

Renesas's automotive business achieved a double increase year-on-year, with a month-on-month increase of 0.7% and a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, reaching 169.4 billion yen, accounting for 46% of the overall revenue. Networking business, but still become one of the rare bright spots.

Renesas CEO Shibata Yingli said that compared with the first quarter, the shortage of automotive chip supply has increased relatively, and Renesas has been reasonably controlling production and inventory levels.

However, Renesas is not optimistic about the performance of the next quarter. It is expected that the overall revenue will continue to grow, reaching 370 billion yen, but it will still decline by 4.5% year-on-year, and the profit margin may decline.

In addition, in the spot market, demand for Renesas' automotive MCUs is high, and Renesas expects a shortage next year due to increased demand in the field of electric vehicles and renewable energy.

2. ON Semiconductor's Q2 revenue in 2023 will be US$2.0944 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.45%, and its net profit will be US$577 million, a year-on-year increase of 26.5%. Driven by growth in the automotive and industrial markets, ON Semiconductor posted another good year, topping revenue and profit expectations.

ON Semiconductor's automotive business performed particularly well, with revenue exceeding US$1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 35%, a record high, indicating that the growth of the automotive market has become an important driving force for ON Semiconductor's performance growth.

In addition, ON Semiconductor's SiC business revenue increased by nearly 4 times year-on-year, and its performance is also very impressive. It is understood that in the second quarter alone, ON Semiconductor signed a new SiC long-term service agreement of more than 3 billion US dollars.

As a global leader in power discrete devices and image sensors, ON Semiconductor continues to make efforts in the automotive and industrial markets, and is also a leader in the field of silicon carbide.

3. According to Infineon’s latest financial report, Infineon’s 2023 fiscal year Q3 revenue was 4.09 billion euros, a year-on-year increase of 13%, with a profit of 1.067 billion euros and a profit margin of 26.1 %.

Infineon's CEO said that Infineon's performance is strong, while the semiconductor market trend is still mixed. On the one hand, the demand for electric vehicles, renewable energy and related applications remains high. On the other hand, demand from consumer applications such as PCs and smartphones remains low.

In addition, Infineon plans to expand a factory in Malaysia to build the world's largest 8-inch SiC factory to cope with the growing demand for semiconductors in the automotive industry.
