GE Profile Unveils Smart Refrigerator With Kitchen Assistant at CES 2026 to Simplify Grocery Shopping and Meal Planning
At CES 2026, GE Profile unveils a smart refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant, the new GE Profile™ Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator designed to transform how people manage groceries, plan meals and reduce food waste with intuitive, AI-powered features built directly into the appliance.
The standout innovation is the patented Scan-to-List barcode scanner positioned in the exterior dispenser that recognises more than four million products. Users can scan groceries as they run low, automatically adding the item complete with brand, flavour and size to a shareable digital grocery list in the SmartHQ™ app. This list can be referenced while shopping or synced directly to grocery services like Instacart for delivery in as fast as 30 minutes.
Integrated Features Make the Kitchen Smarter
GE Profile’s newest smart refrigerator does more than store food, it actively helps manage it:
- Scan-to-List Grocery Tracking: A built-in barcode scanner simplifies grocery list creation, ensuring busy households capture essentials accurately without guesswork.
- AI-Assisted Meal Planning: Through the SmartHQ™ app and touchscreen interface, users can add voice or text input for non-barcode items, explore recipes from partners like Taste of Home, and automatically include needed ingredients to shopping lists.
- FridgeFocus Camera: A real-time interior camera system lets users check produce levels remotely, helping prevent overbuying and reducing food waste by tracking perishable items in the crisper drawers.
- Interactive Display & Voice Control: An 8-inch touchscreen provides weather updates, recipe browsing, and hands-free voice commands for list management, unit conversions, and product info.
- Hands-Free Water Dispensing: Sensor technology enables automatic water dispensing and precise fill amounts, adding convenience to everyday kitchen tasks.
Designed for Modern Smart Kitchens
The refrigerator doubles as a kitchen hub combining advanced connectivity with practical features that fit busy lifestyles. Users can share digital grocery lists across household members, plan meals based on current inventory, and receive timely insights on what’s inside their fridge while shopping.
Jason May, GE Appliances’ executive product director of French-door refrigeration, notes that the Kitchen Assistant experience “feels natural and effortless,” turning the refrigerator into a true kitchen companion that evolves with day-to-day family routines.
Availability and Pricing
The GE Profile Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant available in both standard-depth and counter-depth models is slated to launch in April 2026, with a suggested MSRP of $4,899 at GE Appliances’ website and select national retailers.
With its blend of AI, smart connectivity and intuitive kitchen management tools, this refrigerator is positioned as a leading example of how everyday appliances can make household routines more seamless, efficient and enjoyable.
