Though Bison and Buffalo look similar in appearance and they both belong to the Bovidae family and both mainly feed on grass, but there are many differences.

Buffaloes belong to South Asia and the African region.

Buffaloes are mainly two types of Buffaloes:

  • Cape Buffalo-found mostly in Saharan plains of Africa
  • Domestic Asian Water Buffalo-found in Asia, North Africa, Europe

Bison belong to South and North America. Bison is also found in the European region and are known as European Bison. Appearance-wise they are different from American Bisons.
