Russia announced to vigorously develop the semiconductor industry

In the global semiconductor industry, the United States has always occupied an absolute dominant position. The supply chain of EDA software, chip architecture, and core components of lithography machines in the upper reaches of the semiconductor industry is almost entirely controlled by the United States.

After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the United States ordered that the world's leading semiconductor giants cut off supply to Russia.

Almost all mainstream manufacturers such as Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Micron, TSMC, and Samsung have stopped their related businesses operating in Russia.

However, as a former superpower, it is obviously impossible for the United States to directly defeat it, and Russia has long intended to fight back, and is developing its local semiconductor industry with the power of the whole country.

As early as last year, Russia’s Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology stated that it received support funds from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, which will be used to develop maskless X-ray lithography machines. This is a completely different path from ASML, and it claims to reach the EUV level.

At the same time, Russia has also formulated a huge chip replacement plan, which is expected to invest 3.19 trillion rubles before 2030. Among them, the basic chip manufacturing is expected to invest 460 billion rubles, the chip design part will cost about 1.14 trillion rubles, 1.28 trillion rubles will be used to increase market demand, and the talent training of the semiconductor industry will invest 309 billion rubles.

It is believed that with such a huge capital investment, Russia will definitely find its own strength in the semiconductor field, and will gradually get rid of its dependence on American technology in the future.
