This body is set to manage and operate the Indian Telecom Authority and it is set by the government of India under the act of 1997. The act came into play during the early months of 2000. The working of the organization is established upon the grounds of handling and planning out the smooth working of the telecom authority.
The mission is to create and nurture conditions for the growth of telecommunications in India to enable the country to have a leading role in the emerging global information society. The main objective shares that the organization works towards providing a fair and transparent atmosphere that will facilitate better and efficient working of the firms in the market.
In January 2016, TRAI introduced an important change in telecommunication that would benefit all consumers. Effective from 1 January 2016, consumers will be compensated for call drops. However, there is a catch, per the rule, mobile users will get compensation of Re 1 for every dropped call but it will be limited to a maximum of three dropped calls in a day. This regulation has been quashed by the supreme court on the ground of being "unreasonable, arbitrary and unconstitutional".
During 2017, TRAI was able to launch an app that made it more feasible for Indian users to become completely aware of their wellbeing in a working environment.
