  • What is Visual Testing?
  • What is a Visual Inspection System?
  • Advantages of Visual Testing
  • Disadvantages of Visual Testing

What is Visual Testing?

Visual Testing is used in figuring out the consequences of what happened at the time of software failure. It defines the data in such a way that the developer can quickly recognize the reason for the software failure. The information is expressed in such a way that any developer can easily use this information. Its main purpose is to display the actual problem rather than just to describe it. It increases understanding and clarity so that we can solve the problem easily.

What is a Visual Inspection System?

The system of Visual Testing consists of a high-quality video camera for collecting the data and software and computer to analyze data. It is used in capturing the picture of the object during the testing process. Those pictures are transferred to the computer via a frame grabber. The computer has software that analyzes the pictures and decides whether the object fails or passes the inspection in the results. The conditions under which video testing works make the system work well.

Advantages of Visual Testing

  • It is cheap because the information we recorded is in the form of video. We don’t need to make a duplicate copy of the information which saves our money automatically.
  • Visual testing provides portability. A tester can easily pass the video to any other tester if the type of software is the same. So, if somehow the system fails, we don’t lose our data.
  • It requires the minimum amount of technical skills.
  • It needs minimum part preparation because there is only a need to find the system failure.

Disadvantages of Visual Testing

  • It is not capable of detecting the hidden defects and also the large defects.
  • It is only suitable for the surface defects which can be visible.
  • It goes according to the rules only without a human interception.
  • To record the visual clear lighting is much needed.
